Privacy Policy.

Scope and publisher

ProxyIndex, publishing publicly as "Proxy Index" ("Proxy Index," "we," "us," or "our"), operates proxyindex.org as a public proxy-benchmark publication. This Privacy Policy explains the limited personal information processed when you visit the site, download a public export, subscribe when the Proxy Index newsletter signup is available, or communicate through a future approved contact channel.

This policy covers the public Proxy Index site and publication operations. A third-party provider or source linked from a report controls its own services and privacy practices.

Information processed

When you request a page or file, the infrastructure serving Proxy Index processes standard request and diagnostic information. ProxyIndex does not use that information to build advertising profiles.

Do not send proxy credentials, endpoint addresses, customer data, payment information, or other secrets in a communication.

• Request and diagnostic data: IP address, approximate location derived from it, browser and device information, requested URL, referring page if supplied by the browser, timestamps, response status, and error information.
• Usage analytics data: Google Analytics receives page URLs, referrers, approximate location, browser and device details, and interaction events such as page views. ProxyIndex does not send newsletter addresses, proxy credentials, or benchmark evidence to Google Analytics.
• Newsletter subscriptions: email address, active, unsubscribed, or suppressed subscription status, signup and unsubscribe timestamps, any legacy confirmation state, the Proxy Index page where signup began, and campaign parameters supplied in that page's URL.
• Newsletter delivery: the publication emails requested and any pre-cutover confirmation message associated with a legacy pending subscription, along with delivery, unsubscribe, spam-complaint, and hard-bounce information returned by Mailjet. ProxyIndex does not add open-tracking pixels or rewrite newsletter links for click tracking.
• Communications: if you contact ProxyIndex through an approved channel, the name or pseudonym, email address, organization or role, message, affected URL, and evidence you choose to provide.
• Public-export requests: the same standard request and diagnostic data processed when any page or file is delivered.

Local preferences and usage analytics

Proxy Index stores your theme choice and scoring-lens settings in your browser's local storage. These values remain on your device; the public-site code does not transmit them to ProxyIndex. You can remove them through your browser settings.

Proxy Index loads Google Analytics to measure page views and navigation. Google may set analytics cookies such as _ga to distinguish visits. The integration disables Google signals and advertising-personalization signals. Newsletter signup is optional and is not required to read, compare, or download Proxy Index publications.

Benchmark evidence

Operating the publication requires ProxyIndex to process public provider and product information and private technical benchmark evidence. This evidence describes proxy networks and test operations; it is not collected to profile site visitors.

• Private technical evidence can include proxy endpoint metadata, observed network addresses, timestamps, ASN data, and coarse geographic results.
• Credentials, raw endpoint details, raw attempt errors, and other restricted evidence are not included in public reports.
• Public reports and exports use aggregate or redacted fields and preserve publication history where needed for corrections and integrity.

How information is used

• Deliver, secure, and diagnose the public site and exports.
• Measure which results, articles, and navigation paths are useful so ProxyIndex can improve the publication.
• Activate a first-time newsletter request and send the single Proxy Index newsletter covering worthwhile benchmark, ranking, evidence, methodology, provider, and guide updates.
• Honor unsubscribes and suppression events, avoid changing any existing subscription through another public signup request, and understand which Proxy Index page or campaign produced a first-time signup.
• Preserve the theme and scoring choices you make on your device.
• Operate, validate, improve, and document the benchmark system.
• Investigate questions, provider challenges, errors, abuse, and security events.
• Maintain editorial, correction, dispute, and security records.
• Comply with legal obligations and protect rights, safety, and system integrity.

Service providers and disclosures

ProxyIndex discloses information only as reasonably necessary to providers that host or operate infrastructure, store benchmark records, deliver approved communications, or enrich benchmark network evidence; to configured benchmark targets and testing destinations; to professional advisers; when required by law; to protect rights, safety, or system integrity; or as part of a business transfer.

Current infrastructure includes Vercel for the public site, Railway for application services, and Supabase for database infrastructure. Google processes basic usage analytics with advertising signals disabled. When newsletter signup is enabled, Mailjet processes a first-time subscriber address, requested messages, and delivery or suppression events needed to provide the service. A first-time public signup is queued for addition to the ProxyIndex newsletter list without a confirmation email. A later public submission for any existing address does not reactivate or otherwise change that record; legacy confirmation links issued before the single-opt-in cutover may still complete their original flow. Network-intelligence services may receive benchmark network addresses when required for a test; they do not receive newsletter addresses or public-site scoring-lens preferences.

Configured benchmark targets and testing destinations receive requests routed through selected proxies. Depending on the test, a destination may receive ordinary request metadata and observe the proxy exit IP. This is necessary to measure the proxy service and is separate from public-site visitor activity.

ProxyIndex does not currently sell or share visitor information for cross-site behavioral advertising.

Retention

ProxyIndex retains information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes in this policy. Browser preferences remain until you change them or clear browser storage. Google Analytics retention follows the settings of the Proxy Index Analytics property and Google's applicable terms. Hosting and security logs follow the applicable provider configuration unless a record must be preserved for security, dispute, or legal reasons.

Supabase holds the newsletter consent record. A first-time signup is recorded as active and synchronized to Mailjet for newsletter delivery. Existing active, legacy-pending, unsubscribed, and suppressed records are not changed by another public signup submission. An unsubscribe, spam complaint, or hard bounce is retained as needed to suppress future mail and prevent accidental re-mailing. Legacy pending confirmation records may be retained until their links expire or the compatibility flow is retired.

Contact and correction records may be retained while a request is handled and afterward as reasonably necessary for editorial accountability, dispute resolution, and legal compliance. Benchmark evidence may be retained with publication history for reproducibility and integrity. Public correction records may be retained indefinitely but do not disclose a reporter's private contact details.

Retention periods may change as the product and its infrastructure change; this page will be updated before a materially different practice is introduced.

Privacy choices and requests

Every newsletter includes an unsubscribe route. Depending on where you live, applicable law may also give you rights to request access to, correction of, deletion of, restriction of, or an objection to certain processing of personal information. ProxyIndex may need to verify a request and may retain information where required for legal, security, fraud-prevention, opt-out, or editorial-integrity purposes. ProxyIndex will not discriminate against you for making a privacy request.

A public privacy-request route will be added before ProxyIndex collects requests through the site.

Security and international processing

ProxyIndex uses reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards appropriate to the information it handles. No online system or transmission method is completely secure.

Infrastructure providers may process information in countries other than your own, subject to their terms and applicable law.

Children's privacy

Proxy Index is a business and research publication and is not directed to children under 13. ProxyIndex does not knowingly collect newsletter addresses from children. If ProxyIndex learns that a child submitted an address, it will remove the subscription.

Third-party links

Reports and articles link to provider sites, source material, and other third-party services. ProxyIndex does not control their content, security, terms, or privacy practices. Review those services' policies before giving them information.

Changes and contact

ProxyIndex may update this policy when the product, service providers, or legal obligations change. A material revision will receive a new effective date on this page. Historical policy versions should be retained once a revision is published.

This policy was first published on July 30, 2026; revised on August 4, 2026 for the single-opt-in newsletter; and revised on August 5, 2026 to describe Google Analytics usage without an in-product consent prompt.
